Il Panuozzo napoletano (or “O’Panuozzo”, as they say in Naples), submitted to the list of traditional food products of the Campania region, is a sandwich “created” in Gragnano a town near Naples, by Giuseppe Mascolo in 1983, as an alternative to pizza. Its dough is very similar to Neapolitan style pizza and lends itself to being stuffed in all sorts of scrumptious, tasty, mouth watering ways.
